Planning your session begins with a consultation meeting, during which we will determine a date, time and location for your session. We also will decide what clothing is most appropriate for the look you are going for, whether any props should be included to better tell your story, or if a themed shoot is desired. I will make suggestions for makeup artists and hair stylists. We will discuss the types of products you are interested in purchasing so that I can shoot the session accordingly. (For example, if you would like a book, I will make sure to get more details shots during a session.)
To lock in the date for your session, the booking fee is due at the consultation meeting. We also will book a date for your viewing and ordering session during the consultation. The consultation meetings are normally about 30 minutes.
The portrait sessions are about 1.5 hours. For outdoor shoots, sunset is the best time to photograph. Planning ahead for a time when you can meet in the evening is recommended.
Having a master's degree in documentary photography, I was trained to stand back, observe and capture events as they naturally unfold. When I started doing a lot of portrait work though, I realized reality sometimes needs just a bit of guidance. Therefore, during the sessions, I don't spend too much time saying look at me and say CHEESE. I think that's a bit cheesy. What I do do is guide you to look your best by casually coaching you and giving recommendations on how to let your beauty shine. Three weeks after your session, the images will be ready for viewing.
A few weeks following your ordering session, your products will be shipped or hand delivered to you, depending on where you live and the types of products you order.
